I currently live in Syracuse, New York, arguably the ‘Paris of Onondaga County.’ When I’m not scraping ice off of my car or huddling for bodily warmth, I’m probably working on my dissertation or related projects. If it is winter and I’m doing none of those things, hopefully I’m skiing somewhere that has both snow and mountains. If it is the summer, then more than likely I'm assiduously monitoring the forecast for clement mountain biking weather.
Over the last few years I split my time between Syracuse and Washington, DC. There is no good skiing or mountain biking in DC, but 2 Amy’s is there and riding around the city is OK. Before I lived in either Syracuse or Washington, I lived in Dubai, which has an indoor ski slope, and before that I had a place in Kuwait City, which does not. Before I started traveling around the Middle East I was studying business and economics in Morgantown, WV, which has good mountain biking. Before that, I was in school in Littleton, NH, which has excellent skiing and where I was a ski instructor at Canon Mountain. Before that I lived near Pittsburgh, PA, which has good mountain biking and, oddly, better skiing than Syracuse. St. Anton am Arlberg (pictured on my homepage) has better skiing than Canon.
